JHU ACM Wishlist
We can always use more (working) hardware and sometimes software, so if you've got anything we might like, contact the admins@acm. Here's the current list of things we could really use:
- Technical or computer science books of all sorts, especially O'Reilly books.
- Hard drives (SCSI or parallel/serial ATA (IDE), SATA is preferred). Any drives larger than 10 GB would be helpful. Fast drives are even better.
- Memory: 16MB or more for EDO SIMMS, 128MB or more for SD, PC100 or faster RAM preferred.
- Gadgets of any kind. Card readers, smart cards, robots, webcams, etc.
- Good keyboards, mice, gamepads, and others — Type 5s welcome! We especially like anything with USB.
- Video cards, 64MB memory or above. Also, sound cards with hardware mixing (e.g. SB Live! or better).
- IDE CD-ROMs, 48x and higher. Any speed non-caddy DVD-Rs/CD-Rs. Any speed DVD-ROMs.
- Network equipment, especially gigabit.
- Working LCD monitors, or high-quality CRTs.
- Recording media (blank CDs, DVDs, CD-RWs).
- SCSI cables, 50 or 68 pin. Any model SCSI card.
- Complete systems, of all sorts. PCs, Macs, SGIs, SPARCs, an S/390, you got it, we probably want it. Preferably 400+ MHz, unless it's something exceptional like an original Mac, or portable.
- Money. Obviously.
People who give us stuff are listed in the hall of fame.
